My "Blood Orange" Red Sangria Recipe
Stop! I already know what you're thinking....
If you don't watch Project Runway or had missed that hilarious scene, consider yourself 1% more informed on reality TV pop culture. Moving on!
I had been wanting to create a sangria recipe for summer. So I decided to put a spin on the traditional red wine sangria by focusing on adding in a citrus flavor.
My ingredients were:
- 3 Clementine Oranges
- 2 Plums
- 2 Cans of San Pellegrino Aranciata Rossa (Sparkling Blood Orange Juice)
- 2 White Peaches
- 1 Bin of Blackberries
- 2 Tbs of Sugar
- 1 Bottle of Red Wine (serves 4) I used Chateau Ste Michelle Indian Wells Merlot
I didn't use a cup of Brandy because of personal preferences but definitely add it to the mix if you want your sangria to pack more of a punch!
The best part of making sangria is how simple it is. Take the time to cut up your fruit into small, bite-size slices. When I was putting my batch together I couldn't help but snap a photo of all the colorful pieces of fruit.
Once you have the wine and ingredients mixed together, put your pitcher in the refrigerator for at least an hour. I try to make mine the night before in order to give it a little extra time to soak.
Lastly, drink up! This recipe allows your guests to enjoy the rich taste of red wine with just a hint of citrus. Whether it's brunch in the garden or shrimp tacos off the grill, it makes a great addition to even greater company.
