Excursions: Rock This Country Tour
Friday, June 5th kicked off the first stop of Shania Twain's Rock This Country Tour. I was lucky enough to dance along with a few of my girl friends and film some concert highlights to share.
We missed the opener, Wes Mack, who is best known for his song "Before You Drive Me Crazy." But as soon as the lights dimmed to cue the beginning of Shania's set, we were on our feet and ready to rock...Let me tell you, she did NOT disappoint.
The show opened with "Rock This Country" and then brought everyone to their feet with classics like "Honey, I'm Home," "Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under," and "Don't Be Stupid (You Know I Love You)."
I was excited when she performed her less popular song, "I Ain't No Quitter" and was even more excited after she told us that it was the first time she had performed it in concert EVER. Being able to say I was there when she performed that song live for the first time is one of the reasons I love going to concerts so much. It's a unique moment that you share with a few hundred people, and if you're lucky, some amazing friends.
While Shania will be "retiring" after this tour, her show was far from old school. The production included flashing lights, multiple screens with visuals and a touch of heat! We were pretty high up and could feel the flames warm up the room, so I have to give her and her band kudos for enduring the heat.
Beyond the fire and incredible visuals, the reason this was a great show was because of it's star. From beginning to end, Shania strut across the stage and reminded me of why I've loved her for as long as I can remember. Her bright smile and new blonde hair lit up the stage to where you couldn't help but stand up and sing along. In the middle of the show, she sat down and played a short acoustic set which included the upbeat "No One Needs To Know" and her classic, "You're Still The One." She also took the time between songs to talk to the audience and give us a preview of what it would be like to have her as a friend, not as a celebrity.
The night concluded with "Man! I Feel Like A Woman" and Man! It was the perfect way to end the night. Through and through, Shania proved that she is the same strong, talented woman who taught me that cars and fame don't buy love and any man of mine better be proud of me.

The next stop of her tour is in Vancouver, BC with one show on Saturday, June 6th and one on Tuesday, June 9th. I would highly recommend this concert for all Shania fans or anyone who's looking to rock out. You can find tickets here.
And as always, let's go girls.
