The Valuable Lesson I Learned About Time
Between my full-time job, blogging, freelancing, and (attempting to have) a social life, it's pretty easy for me to get busy. It's in my nature to keep busy, so I'm not complaining, but recently I felt like The Energizer Bunny - just going and going and going. While in this state of continuously going, I found myself less interested in my blog, social media, and technology in general.
Fortunately, I recently made a trip to my home state of Colorado for a girls weekend with my family and I made sure to bring along my new wood watch from JORD!
While the trip was short, just four days, it gave me the opportunity to do something I hadn't done in a really long time... do absolutely nothing! Rather than waking up and immediately thinking about what social posts I needed to do that day or what emails I had to send out, I was able to slightly unplug and just enjoy the time with my my mom, aunt, cousin and friends.
But don't get me wrong, I am in no way complaining about social media or technology "taking over my life." I believe we, as a human race, are starting to connect and understand each other more and more because of these tools. So, what's the actual lesson here?
Your time is precious, so make sure you spend it doing what you love.
Just by taking a few days to disconnect from my responsibilities and focusing on quality time with loved ones has me feeling more creative and energetic than I have in weeks! Disconnecting from The Matrix gave me the chance to take some deep breathes, have some good laughs and relax. While disconnecting may not be the right move for you, I recommend being honest with yourself and taking a look at what's causing you to feel overworked or overwhelmed. Once you've spotted your stress button, try to find some time to do what brings you joy.
Personally, I'm happiest when I'm surrounded by friends and family (vacations certainly don't hurt either) but for you it could be something completely different like cooking, getting outdoors or binge watching your favorite show on Netflix.
To celebrate regaining my motivation and making the most of my time, I've partnered with JORD to give away one of their unique and lightweight wood watches! JORD understands that time is precious. On the company's about page they say, "the value of a watch is not in being able to tell how much time has passed, but in being aware of the need to make that time count. Moments are bigger than minutes and your watch should tell more than time."
I was lucky enough to be wearing the Fieldcrest watch when I learned my valuable lesson about time and now is your chance to do the same!
