A Sheer Thing
The weather is warming up in Seattle, which means it's time to bring out my spring clothes! I decided to embrace this sheer look after seeing these lingerie-inspired looks from Paris Fashion Week. Images via WWD.
I've had this Think Racerback Shift Dress from TOBI in the back of my closet for months, after getting it on sale last summer. Its gorgeous lavender color and leather accents immediately caught my eye, because I've found my ideal style is cute with a hint of edge and I think this dress is a perfect representation of that.
Pacific Northwesterners know that the temperature can change drastically throughout the day, so I showed up to my photo session with Victoria West Photography and Shaun Turley Photography prepared with layers. Since this dress is VERY sheer, I made sure to wear a black cotton slip from Forever 21 underneath. I added my thigh-high "Gorgeous" boots from Steve Madden to elongate my legs and cover up a little bit of skin. Lastly, I topped it all off with a black and white plaid coat from IZ Byer California.
My favorite thing about this look was it was easy to put together while still being flirty and fun! Until these "Gorgeous" boots walked into my life, I would have never imagined myself rocking thigh-highs. But they instantly gave me a boost, both figuratively and literally (hello, 3.75 inch heel!) and the black matched perfectly with the leather details on the dress. Just look at how the dress flows in the wind!
There's more spring fashion coming to The Modern Mosaic, including an exciting collaboration with Allison Wagner of West Coast Aesthetic. Stay tuned!
