Mixing Floral and Stripes: Intermediate
We shot our first two looks in Seattle's Olympic Sculpture Park which provided the perfect backdrop for our ,mix/match outfits. This location was my favorite in particular because of how the tall brass walls reflected off the same colors in my hair.
Life and style magazine, Cosmopolitan, recommends choosing simple prints and patterns for these combo looks because they are easy to mix. "This is why stripes, especially black and white stripes, go with everything. They're so simple, they're pretty much the neutral of prints. Graphic prints go great with each other and with more complex or organic prints like florals or animal prints," says Senior Style Editor, Charles Manning.
Allison and I used a variety of brands and accessories to create our intermediate looks. Let's start with a breakdown of my look! I wore an off-the-shoulder top and flowy wide-leg pants from Forever 21, my favorite pair of black sandals from Target and my heart shaped sunglasses from Urban Outfitters.
'Cause nothing says summer like heart sunnies, right Katy?
Allison wore a striped dress from Pacsun, a black top with floral accents from Nordstrom, wedge platforms from Brass Plum, sunglasses from Nordstrom Rack and a necklace from Forever 21. Allison's advice for putting together a signature floral and stripes outfit? Have fun with it! "Playing with bold florals and stripes is a must for the summer, since this is the time of year to experiment with layers and have fun with print!"
Together, these styles are slightly more dressed up than the two before and they are perfect for anyone looking for a spring outfit. Thanks again to our talented and fearless photographer, KNDM Co, for making this collab truly one of a kind!
The final floral and stripes looks from my collaboration with Allison and Kamrin are coming to The Modern Mosaic soon! If you want to stay in the know with the latest photos and blog posts, LIKE The Modern Mosaic on Facebook.
