Mixing Floral and Stripes: Advanced

Mixing Floral and Stripes: Advanced

If you haven't seen the first two blog post from my collaboration with Allison Wagner of West Coast Aesthetic and Kamrin Dishman Olavarria of KNDM Co, be sure to check out my posts for beginners and intermediate pattern mixers.

The three of us made our way down to the Seattle Waterfront to shoot our final look. What makes these outfits different than the two before is the use of bold stripes and pops of color. Because, as Allison said in her blog post, "if you're going to go bold, you should go all the way."

I found my pops of color in my shoes, skirt and handbag.

My flowing, floral skirt, statement necklace and striped top are from Forever 21, my sky-high heels are from Juicy Couture and the hot pink handbag is by Michael Kors. My favorite part of this outfit is how the bright pinks play off one another and accentuate the black and white contrast in my top. My least favorite part of this look was easily when my heels fell through small holes or cracks in the pier's wood planks.

Luckily, I had so much fun shooting with Kamrin and Allison that I learned to watch my step and dance like no one was watching.

The contrast of wood and skyline made the perfect backdrop for our final looks and Kamrin did an amazing job (like she always does) of capturing every pose and batted eye.

Now let's take a look at Allison's look!

She paired a skirt and top from Nordstrom with shoes by Steve Madden, a clutch from Rebecca Minkoff and a statement necklace from Brass Plum. Her recommendation for throwing together a more dressed up, mixed pattern look is to pick up your favorite statement necklace, grab your go-to Friday night heels, and throw all of your essentials into your designer bag and go!

I can't believe all of the weeks of chatting, plotting and planning made way for this incredible collab. I had so much fun working with a fellow Seattle blogger and photographer. If you're in the blogging community and haven't taken the time to work with other that you admire, I'm telling you to go do it now! You should always reach out to meet with and work with those that you admire. It's by far one of the easiest and most rewarding ways to gain experience and hopefully make a new friend.
